Circle Crop Image Online

Crop a photo or logo into a clean circle with transparent corners. Drag to position the subject, zoom up to 300%, add an optional border ring, and export as PNG, WebP, JPEG or ICO. The work stays on your device.

Circle Crop Image, at a glance

Circle Crop on SquareImage.dev masks any photo or logo into a 1:1 circular image and erases the outer corners to full alpha transparency. Visitors can pan and zoom up to 300%, add an optional circular border ring from 0 to 24 pixels, and export at original resolution, 512x512, 1080x1080 or as a 256x256 .ico file in PNG, WebP or JPEG. It is free, needs no account, and runs on the device with HTML5 Canvas.

How do I crop a photo into a circle with a transparent background?

  1. Add a photo. Choose it, drop it onto the page, or paste it.
  2. Frame the subject. Zoom, use the pan sliders, or drag the preview.
  3. Add a ring if needed. Choose a width from 0 to 24 pixels and a color.
  4. Choose PNG or WebP. Both keep the area outside the circle transparent.

Which format keeps the area outside the circle transparent?

PNG and WebP store an alpha channel, so the four outside corners remain see-through. PNG is the safest choice for avatars and design assets. WebP is often smaller. JPEG cannot store alpha, so its transparent area is filled white during export.

When should I upload a square image instead of a pre-cropped circle?

Social networks often apply their own circular mask to a square profile image. Give those services the square original when you want them to control the crop. Download the transparent circle when a website, document or design needs the circular pixels already baked into the file.

How is Circle Crop different from Rounded Corners and Full DP?

Circle Crop always creates a circular mask and adds pan, zoom and an optional border. Rounded Corners keeps the original aspect ratio unless square lock is enabled. Full DP Maker keeps the whole photo inside a square before a messaging app applies its own circle. The Favicon Generator turns a finished mark into a multi-size web icon package.

Frequently asked questions

Can I download a circle crop with no background?

Yes. Choose PNG or WebP. Pixels outside the circle are cleared to full transparency, so the result can sit on any page color without square corners.

How far can I zoom and move the photo?

Zoom runs from 100% to 300%. Use the horizontal and vertical sliders or drag directly on the preview; movement is constrained so the circle never reveals an empty gap.

Can I add a colored ring around the circle?

Yes. Set the border from 1 to 24 pixels and choose any color. The stroke is drawn inside the circumference, so it is not clipped by the canvas edge.

Can I save a circular favicon as ICO?

Yes. The secondary export creates a 256x256 ICO with a PNG layer, preserving transparent pixels outside the circular image.

Does SquareImage.dev keep my profile photo?

No. The source is decoded, positioned, masked and exported in the current browser tab. It is never uploaded or stored by SquareImage.dev.

Every tool on this site draws your photo onto an HTML canvas and reads the result back out — that is the whole pipeline, which is why nothing is uploaded and why the export size behaves the way it does. The browser's own documentation describes the drawing step:

“drawImage() will always use the source element's intrinsic size in CSS pixels when drawing, cropping, and/or scaling.”
— MDN Web Docs, CanvasRenderingContext2D: drawImage() method
